Chipotle Burger from The Mandolin

Alright Missoula, if you haven't been to The Mandolin then get off yer ass and go. It's in the Union Club, in the back, where the Hob Nob used to be in the old days. Big League Chewer and myself needed to get some food before band practice last night and in a shining moment of brilliance, BLC recommended we try it out. We'd been hearing about their Espresso Burger so we were pretty much sold already. BLC actually got the Espresso Burger and we took a picture, so I'll post that tomorrow probably.
We ordered the fried green tomatoes from an appetizer but they were out at the moment. I was bummed but it's probably for the best because I couldn't even finish my monstrous burger and "onion straws". So, lemme tell you about my burger. It's locally grown ground beef with fried pickles, sprouts, tomatoes, pepper jack cheese and chipotle mayonnaise. You have your choice of french fries or onion straws and I went with the latter. Onion straws are, apparently, like lightly battered little onion petals that are deep fried a nice crispy texture. I really dug them but I was leering at BLC's shoestring-cut fries all through dinner.
They don't serve booze at The Mandolin, but you can just walk 20 feet over to the bar at the Union Club and order whatever you want. I guess I should also mention that all the greens for the salad are fresh organic greens from Missoula's Farmer's Market. Also, I'm guessing that the Fish and Chips and Halibut are pretty tasty because at the table next to us, every single person ordered the Halibut. I was told later that the Halibut is fresh and over-nighted from Alaska each day.
Anyway, I'm psyched to have another great restaurant in town, especially one with delicious gourmet burgers and shoestring french fries. Boo-yah!
