Hamburger and Chips from Doe Brothers

It's every potato's dream, ending up like this

Mr. Chew Time pointed us towards Doe Brothers with his picture of fried pickles, a long-time favorite of ours from Threadgill's in Austin, TX. Like him, we were also on our way back from Fairmont Hot Springs. But the best thing at Doe's was clearly the potato chips on this here plate - homemade, thick cut, perfectly crisp and not even a little greasy. They sell 'em in brown paper bags to go as well.

Editor's Note:  Oh man!  I really miss Threadgill's.  My folks used to live in Austin and I HAD to go there every time I visited them.  My favorite was the "9 vegetable orgy" (collard greens, fried okra, green beans, etc, etc).  Thank heavens I have the Threadgill's cookbook, at least.
