Whiskey Coke, Shrimp Cocktail in Las Vegas
Friday, March 12th, 2010
So, I was going through my phone trying to make sense of all the pictures of food that Doug has texted me, when I stumbled upon this photo. So, while I wait for Doug to tell me who made all the food in the pics he sent me (I'm preparing for a Chew Time "week o' Dug"), I figured I could post this.
Las Vegas apparently turns you into a different person. I say that because, while I do greatly enjoy whiskey, I never drink it with coke. But, here I am, doing just that.
I can't remember what Casino we were in, but it was on the old strip. There was a Chinese fast food restaurant that inexplicably had fantastic shrimp cocktails. The green layer was like a celery puree I think? The whole thing was so light and refreshing (especially with the lemon squeezed over the top) and there was a good bit of heat in the homemade cocktail sauce (lots of horseradish). I'm pretty sure I had two of three of these while we were there.
Plus, it's perfect gambling food. You can walk around with it, pretty much drinking it and not soil your gambling hands.
