Near perfect fries
Friday, February 5th, 2010Okey doke. This is our last picture from the Old Timer Cafe. As anyone who has ever eaten lunch with me can tell you, I'm a freak about potatoes, especially french fries. Now, I wouldn't say that I'm a snob, I'll literally eat any french fry and be content, but I do have strong opinions as to what makes a correct french fry. For example, french fries that are coated with that "crunch dust" junk get on my nerves. I think Burger King invented it and now they are everywhere. I prefer handcut and/or steak fries, if you please.
I call these fries near perfect because I have been to French Fry Heaven. French Fry Heave was the "Perfect Frittes" from 515 in Missoula, Montana. They were hand cut, blanched and then fried to perfection. Ugh... I really miss those damn fries. Anyway, enjoy your virtual fries!

Those look good, but for my money the best fries in MT are at Double Front.

Double Front, you say? Hmm… I’ve only ever eaten there once and I had fried chicken and pickles, I think? Sounds like I need to head back there.

Only eaten at Double Front once!!!!
Grab the regular, fried chicken and fries and order some fried mac and cheese appetizers. Double Front was one of my favorite Missoula food spots. The lounge ain’t too bad either.
